Lone Feather Hats
The western way of life has always been a part of Matt Guderjahn’s life, right down to cowboy hats. Matt longed for a hat that fit his head and the scars he has from rodeo. “The Western way of life is something that runs deep in my soul. I have a great appreciation for the grit and strength it takes to be a true cowboy and that means having a hat you can rely on. A good hat doesn’t just keep the sun out of your eyes or the snow off your head- a good hat that fits right becomes an extension of you.”
After years of teaching himself how to shape hats with a tea kettle but still not quite getting the right fit, he finally decided maybe he should try to make his own. He took the idea to his wife who said “what do you have to lose?” and with that Lone Feather Hats were born. From the tea kettle in the kitchen to a real shop- he continues to create custom hats that are built just as their new owners want. Matt works to create a masterpiece that includes every detail from the color, shape, hat band right down to what name to put on the inside. “I never thought it would come to this. It is a true blessing to take a passion and turn it into something others wear with pride.”
Located in the heart of the golden triangle in north central Montana, our roots run deep. Matt’s wife, Katee, is a 5th generation resident of our sleepy town, that once was a bustling railroad town. “We want to preserve our town and bring something to it that everyone can be proud of.” We purchased the church in our tiny town that our children were baptized in. We saw the opportunity to preserve a piece of history and keep the legacy of the building intact.
Here at Lone Feather, you can be assured that we only use the best of materials. We only use hare, nutria, beaver blend and pure beaver. We don’t keep ready made hats on hand because it is about the experience.
We invite you to make the drive, come for the experience and become a part of the Lone Feather Hat family.
